The Church.

Hello again!! I'm blogging as we are skyping with our Sunday morning service, so hopefully I can focus enough to type clearly!! =) We are SO excited to be able to "see" our Cedar Ridge church family via the internet!! It has been yet another amazing day here in Addis!! What a privilege it is to be a part of the capital "C" Church!!! We attended church in the Merkato area this morning at Sebatenga Emanuel United Church. We were able to worship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in Ethiopia. Clearly, we had no idea what they were saying, but we knew it was praising our Lord and Savior!! Today happened to be family Sunday, and they called forward all of the little children to pray over them. Sound familiar?? =) We also took communion together with the church - such a BLESSING!!! We all smiled when the pastor got up to preach, and our LIA staffer and friend, Develle, turned around and told us that he was preaching out of Exodus chapter 8!! Isn't that crazy?! God is so cool! What are the chances that the message here would be out of the same book of the Bible that Cedar Ridge has been studying for the past few weeks?! Love it!! It is so amazing to get a picture of the global church, and to know that we are a part of it. We are part of something that is SO much bigger than just Cedar Ridge Christian Church. It is so awesome to be a part of the big "C" church family. Our Ethiopian brothers and sisters in Christ are so beautiful - we can't wait for you all to meet them someday!!

Here are a couple of video clips from the Merkato area.... It will give you a little glimpse of the joy and the heartache we are experiencing. It was a joy to be able to share with YOU all in worship today too, all the way from Africa.....

Much love,

The Africa Team

We will keep praying for you and the folks there. The videos are just perfect and don't worry about the quality it is not important. the glimpses they share say so much.

  2. How amazing to talk kinda face to face with you all this morning!!! I feel so privileged to be having 3 of you in the car on the way back from the airport. Trust me, you have been greatly missed back at home. I pray for energy and guidance of the Holy Spirit with the rest of your week. Brothers and sisters, "We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 1:3

  3. I stand here reading this as a wave of emotion overcomes me. I would love to reach out and hug each one of those children! What I wouldn't give to be in your shoes ... filling the role you were set out to do. It was so good to see each of you smiling and looking full of energy this morning. Many prayers are being sent your way.

Katie, sneak home a baby for me too. Surely they won't notice if just a couple go missing :0) Love you and am praying for you my friend.

  6. It was amazing indeed to be able to talk to you all this morning, and the bit in the service was just the coolest thing. I am so glad that you get this day of rest and i am praying that God multiplies it over so that you have the strength to make it through the rest of the week. Grace was very sad that she wasn't able to see nana and grandpa this morning, so she definitely wanted to send her love. I said it this morning, but it is so amazing to see how this blog is allowing so many more people to be a part of this team. If you haven't been convinced in a million other ways, Allyson, just know that this blog and the words that you have shared about your experiences are reaching so many people and is evident that this, along with the amazing photos that i am sure you will have to share when you get back are such powerful reasons that God has you there. On a funny note, i love how you talk about food so much on the blog, i laugh every time amidst my tears because it so you to talk about how good the food is. Love you all, and can't wait to see you all at the airport and hear the stories from your mouths!

Side note for nana and grandpa: Cole scored 9 goals at his game today!!
